Vijay: Implementation Consultant

Vijay’s story starts in India, his homeland. “I’ve been living outside India for about 18 years now”, he shares. Currently, he’s settled in Lelystad, The Netherlands. Moving around the globe, Vijay has brought his expertise and passion to various projects, ultimately finding his place at Squadra.

The role of an Implementation Consultant  

Vijay holds a vital position as an MDM Implementation Consultant, specializing in STIBO STEP applications and quite a few other PIM solutions. “My main focus is on PIM and MDM implementations for a project with Sonepar”, he explains. His job is complex, involving data management systems that ensure accurate, consistent, and accessible product information for large-scale clients.

But how does he describe his role in simpler terms? “Imagine my daughter sees a chocolate bar in a store”, he begins. “I’d ask her: ‘Do you know who made it? Where it’s from? What ingredients are in it?’ All this information lives in a system called product information management (PIM), and I implement that for Sonepar.” Through this analogy, Vijay gives a glimpse of the importance of his work, capturing data that bridges the gaps between manufacturers, suppliers and consumers.

For Vijay, working at Squadra is more than just a job; it’s being part of a supportive team. “I really like the Squadra MDM Factory team. Everyone is open to help, and open to discuss anything, whether it’s work-related or personal.”, he says. This collaborative team spirit fuels his motivation.

Life Beyond the Office  

Outside of work, Vijay is a dedicated family man. “I love spending time with my family, especially my daughter. She’s so curious about mobile phones, laptops - anything tech-related”, he says. But it’s not just tech that brings them together; Vijay’s daughter also loves to draw and play, and he cherishes every moment. “I try to make myself available for her as much as I can. I’m a family man.”, he proudly states.

In addition to family time, Vijay has a love for cars, particularly those with cutting-edge technology. He stays informed on the latest innovations.

Proud Achievements  

Reflecting on the past year, Vijay feels a strong sense of accomplishment in his work with STIBO STEP. “I’ve worked on many PIM applications, but STEP is an especially interesting tool”, he remarks. The challenges of learning the system and understanding its nuances have been rewarding, giving him new insights and skills.

Outside work, Vijay’s passion for cars came with an impressive achievement. “In my new electric car, I managed to travel 560 kilometres on a single charge, even though the manufacturer estimated only 484 kilometres.” His secret? “Stop using cruise control!”, offering a tip for maximizing battery life to conclude this interview.
